- Design:
Conceptualize, design, and develop innovative tools, jigs, fixtures, cutting tools, molds, and assembly equipment to meet specific project requirements.
Ensure tools are designed for ease of use, maintenance, and repair while adhering to industry standards and safety guidelines. - CAD Modeling:
Utilize Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software to create 2D and 3D models of tools and components.
Generate detailed engineering drawings, bill of materials (BOM), and assembly instructions. - Material Selection:
Collaborate with materials experts to choose appropriate materials that align with project objectives, considering factors like durability, cost, and environmental impact. - Tolerance Analysis:
Perform tolerance analysis to ensure that tool components meet precision and quality standards, optimizing the manufacturing process. - Prototyping and Testing:
Create prototypes of designed tools for validation and testing purposes.
Analyze test results and make necessary design modifications to improve performance. - Cost Management:
Work within budget constraints, proposing cost-effective solutions without compromising quality or functionality. - Collaboration:
Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, production, and quality control, to ensure seamless integration of tools into the production process. - Documentation:
Maintain detailed records of design iterations, modifications, and project progress.
Prepare technical reports and documentation for project reviews and approvals. - Continuous Improvement:
Stay updated with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices to continuously enhance tool design processes.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and other relevant engineering tools.
- Strong knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, and quality control.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
- Experience with design for manufacturability (DFM) principles is a plus.
- Familiarity with industry standards and regulations related to tool design.
